Caring for Children
29th January 2018
Attendance and arriving to school on time
School starts at 8:45am – this is when the children line up with the rest of their class to be met by their teacher. It is a much more settled start to the school day if all the children arrive together. Lateness does have a negative impact on the rest of the class causing disruption when teaching has begun. Children need to be at school every day in order to achieve their best. Your child is at a disadvantage in their education if they miss school.
P7 transfer interviews
P7 parents will be receiving a transfer interview time this week – it is essential you attend this interview so that the transfer form for post-primary school can be filled in with your child’s school choices.
Please remember that all children should be in full school uniform, this includes black school shoes. We want to continue to look smart throughout the full school year.
Our school uniform and logo will be changing from September 2018. We will be opting for one colour of sweatshirt and one colour of polo shirt. The details of the new uniform will be available in March.
For the school year 2018-2019 both old and new uniform will run side by side as we appreciate not everyone will need a new sweatshirt for September and we don’t want parents to have any unnecessary costs. New uniform order sheets will be available from April and uniform will continue to be purchased from school.
If you haven’t already done so, please download our school app. This will give you instant access to our website and will also give you immediate notice of any messages from school.
The school inspection team visited Glenwood in late November. Due to industrial action by the main teaching unions, Glenwood alongside the majority of schools in Northern Ireland did not take part in the inspection. The report from the Inspectorate visit is available on ETI website. www.eti.gov.uk
